On Slow Thinking in a Fast World

The feed wants your reflexes. It is engineered, with great precision and greater funding, to make you respond before you have finished reading. Everything I publish here is a small act of resistance against that reflex.

Slow thinking is not nostalgia. It is a discipline: the willingness to sit with a question long past the point where a hot take would have satisfied the room. Most of my best sentences arrived weeks after the thought that provoked them.

The thought that survives a month of neglect is usually the one worth publishing.

A practice, not a pose

I keep a notebook of unfinished ideas. Most of them die there, and that is the point — the notebook is a filter, not a graveyard. What survives earns its place on this page.

If you are reading this slowly, thank you. You are the audience this site was built for.

End of piece — thank you for reading slowly
